Isospin mass splittings of baryons in potential models - art. no. 014012.

We discuss the isospin-breaking mass differences among baryons, with partic ular attention in the charm sector to the Sigma(c)(+)-Sigma(c)(0), Sigma(c) (++) - Sigma(c)(0), and Xi(c)(+) - Xi(c)(0) splittings. Simple potential mo dels cannot accommodate the trend of the available data on charmed baryons and also have difficulty in reproducing both baryon and meson sectors simul taneously. More precise measurements would offer the possibility of testing how well potential models describe the nonperturbative limit of QCD. [S055 6-2821(98)06323-1].
