The decay of the axial f(1)(1425) meson through the chain f(1) --> K*(K) ov
er bar((K) over bar*K) --> K (K) over bar pi has been considered in a model
incorporating pole diagrams and a triangle diagram. This analysis was moti
vated by a recent observation (OBELIX collaboration, LEAR, CERN) of this st
ate with the K*(K) over bar ((K) over bar*K) decay mode in the reaction p (
p) over bar --> (K (K) over bar pi)pi pi at rest. A nonrelativistic approac
h has been used Final-state KK rescattering through a(0)(980) production ha
s been taken into account in the triangle diagram. The properties of this d
iagram and its role in f(1) decay are discussed. Our previous similar analy
sis of the decay of the pseudoscalar state eta in the E/l mass region (simi
lar to 1400-1500 MeV) has been improved, and the revised part of the result
s is also presented.
