Abstract
A novel copper(II) complex, CuL2 (HL = N-ethoxycarbonyl-[methoxyl-(p-nitrop henyl)amino]aldimine), derived from the desulfurization of N-(p-nitrophenyl )-N'-ethoxycarbonyl-thiourea (H(2)pet) has been synthesized and crystallogr aphically characterized. The Cu(II) atom is in a four-coordinate square pla nar geometry contributed by two deprotonated amine N and two carbonyl O ato ms from two L groups with Cu-N and Cu-O bond lengths of 1.968(3) and 1.926( 2) Angstrom, respectively. In terms of the ligand H(2)pet, its structural a symmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent molecules form ed by S ... H hydrogen bonds. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
