X. Lin et al., Synthesis and crystal structures of two new trinuclear molybdenum cluster compounds containing a [Mo3Te7](4+) fragment, POLYHEDRON, 18(1-2), 1998, pp. 217-223
The reaction of Kdtp(dtp = S2P(OC2H5)(2), S2P(OCH(CH3)(2))(2)) with a mixed
product, prepared from the solid state reaction of molybdenum, tellurium a
nd iodine, produces two trinuclear molybdenum cluster compounds, [Mo3Te7(S2
P(OEt2)(3)]I (1) and [Mo3Te7 (S2P(iPrO)(2))(3)]I (2). X-ray crystal structu
res of 1 and 2 reveal that both compounds containing a [Mo3Te7](4+) core be
long to the [Mo-3(mu(3)-E)(mu-E-2)(3)](4+)(E=S, Se, Te) family and each Mo
atom is further chelated by a terminated dtp(-) ligand. The rather strong i
nteractions between the I and Te atoms lead to the formation of quasi-one-d
imensional chains in the crystal. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights
