Educational goals of educators and teachers in South Africa

This study investigated South African teachers' (n=360) and educators' (n=7 2) perceptions of the goals of education. Consistent ranks, obtained for al l groups, suggest that teachers and educators theoretically favour an educa tional system that is outcome-based and cognitively oriented, despite the p revious emphasis on content and rote learning.
