The contribution of the F-18(p,gamma) reaction to the production of Ne
-19 which is the crucial isotope for the breakout from the hot CNO cyc
le into the rp process, has been investigated in experiments with F-18
beams. Measurements of the cross sections for the F-18(p,alpha)O-15 a
nd the F-18(p,gamma)Ne-19 reactions indicate that the contribution fro
m the (p,gamma) route to the formation of Ne-19 is small.
