Kinetics of sorption of Cs-137 and Sr-85 traces on inorganic sorbents of di
fferent types and on KU-2 x 8 sulfonic cation exchanger were studied. The d
iffusion coefficients of Cs-137 and Sr-85 in 0.1 M sodium nitrate at 20 and
25 degrees C, respectively, were determined. Sorption of cesium on sorbent
s containing transition metal ferrocyanides and sorption of strontium on KU
-2 x 8 resin, KG-13 synthetic zeolite, and sorbent containing manganese dio
xide (ISMA-3) are characterized by the best kinetic parameters. The sorptio
n properties of these sorbents and their selectivity were correlated with t
he sorption kinetic parameters.
