Ie. Alekseev et al., Specific physicochemical behavior of trace "hot" atoms during phase transitions in metals. IV. Behavior of trace rhenium atoms in metallic tungsten, RADIOCHEMIS, 40(5), 1998, pp. 453-456
The mass transfer of the trace "hot" Re-186 and Re-188 atoms formed in meta
llic tungsten by the nuclear reactions W-186(n,gamma)W-187(n,gamma)W-188 --
> Re-188 and W-186(d,2n)Re-186 was studied by precision gamma-spectrometry.
Accelerated diffusion of the trace atoms in the course of alpha --> gamma
polymorphic transition of tungsten was detected; the rate and the degree of
abnormal behavior depend on the nuclear history of the trace atoms. Basing
on the whole series of works, the possibility is shown of using the experi
mental data in settling certain fundamental problems in physics and chemist
ry of the condensed state, nuclear chemistry, and radiochemistry such as in
vestigations of the mass transfer of trace atoms in metals and alloys, phas
e transitions and their mechanisms, physicochemical behavior of transmutati
on radionuclides with various nuclear history, and development of new theor
etical approaches to preparation of carrier-free radionuclides.
