The article opens a series of papers on the complex radiochemical monitorin g of natural ecosystems under the radiochemical impact due to the work of t he Mayak Production Association. The paper summarizes and discusses the met hodological problems of radiochemical studies, including methods for determ ination of not only content but also occurrence forms of radionuclides in e nvironmental objects.
