The results of an experiment by the RIKEN-JINR collaboration on search
for new Ne, Na, Mg, Al isotopes close to the neutron drip line are pr
esented. We found for the first time three new neutron-rich nuclei Mg-
38 and Al-40,Al-41. Some clue for particle unstability of Ne-33 was al
so obtained. These nuclei were produced by the projectile fragmentatio
n of a 70A MeV Ca-48 beam on a Ta-181 target. The reaction fragments w
ere analyzed by the fragment separator RIPS at RIKEN, and were unambig
uously identified by measuring the magnetic rigidity, time-of-flight,
energy loss and total kinetic energy.
