Multiplicity distributions of various types of tracks produced in inel
astic interactions of Si-28 and C-12 at 4.5A GeV/c with nuclear emulsi
on nuclei have been investigated. The correlations of the type [N-i(N-
j)] where N-i, N-j = N-g, N-b, N-h Or N-s with i not equal j have been
studied and compared with the results from p-Em interactions at the s
ame momentum per nucleon. Some saturation effects in the values of (N-
b) with N-g are observed. Furthermore, some of these correlations show
almost similar dependence in nucleus-nucleus and proton-nucleus inter
actions at same per particle momenta. The values of [N-s] have been ob
tained by subtracting the contribution of Z = 1 fragments to the obser
ved showers. The dependence of [N-s] so obtained on the number of inte
racting projectile nucleons shows that the nucleus-nucleus collisions
at these energies can be interpreted in terms of multiple N-N collisio
ns.
