A new organosilicon polymer poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) was synthesize
d from disubstituted polyacetylene with the use of the catalytic system TaC
l5/BuLi. Hydrodynamic properties of samples and fractions of the polymer in
solutions were studied over a 70-fold range of molecular weight by forward
diffusion, high-speed sedimentation, viscometry, and gel-permeation chroma
tography. The temperature dependence of the intrinsic vicsosity in various
solvents were studied. Possible structural factors affecting the conformati
on of poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) molecules are considered.
