We applied the principle of pulse oximetry, in other words pulse spectro-ph
otometry, for the dye dilution method. We named the method "pulse dye densi
tography". This method gives cardiac output (CO) easily and with low invasi
veness. This method also gives: 1) circulating blood volume, 2) ICG (indocy
anine-green dye) elimination rate, 3) effective hepatic flow, and 4) simult
aneous SpO(2). This new diagnostic method gives vital parameters that are i
mportant but difficult to measure clinically
Based on this method we developed a commercial model "DDG analyser DDG-2001
", which has been sold in Japan since July 1997. This method will contribut
e to medical science and the treatment of patients in surgery and those who
are critically ill.
