Abstract
Target-controlled infusions have revolutionised the administration of intra venous anaesthetic agents. They offer the anaesthetist the same convenience and flexibility in the control of anaesthetic depth as is available with c alibrated vaporisers. As well as simplifying the administration of anaesthe sia, TCI also has a role in providing patient sedation and postoperative an algesia.
