Abstract
The Datex AS/(3)(R) record keeper enables automated anaesthesia record keep ing, whereby the anaesthesia record can be displayed on the AS/(3) anaesthe sia monitor screen. In combination with the latest version of AS/(3) ADU (a naesthesia delivery unit) it is possible to assess anaesthetic consumption. The data are stored either on the hard disk of the server when using a net work configuration, or on a dedicated memory card. A download onto a person al laptop computeris possible by using dedicated software. After the end of anaesthesia, a print-out of the patient record is possible through a laser printer, which is either directly connected to the monitor or via an anaes thesia network, located in a central location. A special interface/keyboard is provided with the anaesthesia record keeper. One part is identical to t hat present in the AS/(3) anaesthesia monitor. An important practical link is for patient documentation, personnel, ventilation and gas documentation, and contains buttons for documentation of events and comments. The lower s ection is a standard keyboard. For easy access, preconfigured choices of so me anaesthesia menus are available. For scientific studies the record keepe r permits a detailed measurement of the anaesthetic consumption, better tha n the billing purpose information of the ADU.
