Abstract
(Editorial comment: A carotid artery resection for a squamous carcinoma of the head and neck remains highly controversial and of questionable benefit. The authors demonstrate with this case report that patients undergoing car otid resection may suffer serious neurologic sequelae, even when adequate c erebral cross profusion has been shown.
