Abstract
The effect of high static magnetic field on human deoxyhemoglobin spectroph otometric characteristics is studied. Five samples of partially deoxygenate d hemoglobin in aqueous solution were tested. Magnetic field was applied in steps of 2 T (tesla), from 0 to 18 T. Spectral analysis showed a higher li ght absorption at wavelengths of 546 nm and at 581 nm. The applied magnetic field did not alter the wavelengths at which the absorption peaks occurred . On the other hand, the light absorption was found to increase with the ap plied magnetic field strength up to 14 T. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. Al l rights reserved.
