Abstract
The complex Ni(0)bpy generated from Nibpy(2+) is an efficient catalyst for the electrochemical conversion of organic halides into symmetrical or unsym metrical ketones. Carbonylation reactions are achieved from either carbon m onoxide or carbonyl metal complexes or carbon dioxide. Acylation reactions are obtained by coupling halocarbons with acid chlorides or anhydrides. All syntheses are conducted at normal pressure and room temperature at a const ant current intensity in an undivided cell fitted with a sacrificial anode.
