F. Rodriguez et al., High performance liquid chromatographic separation of chlorophyll c forms from marine phytoplankton on octylsilica bonded phases, CHROMATOGR, 48(9-10), 1998, pp. 677-680
The separation of mono- and divinyl chlorophyll c forms was estudied employ
ing several octylsilica and octadecylsilica columns under isocratic conditi
ons. In this paper we show that, using the adequate mobile phases, the mono
meric Ca columns can separate the mentioned chlorophylls. A comparison betw
een C8 and C18 columns reveals that monomeric OS phases provide always high
er resolution of the MV- and DV chlorophyll c pairs. Such a result could be
explained in terms of differences in column polarity. When adequate gradie
nt profiles and injection conditions are used the separation is accomplishe
d together with that of other chlorophylls and carotenoids.
