Drifters have been deployed during the summer and winter seasons over the H
ebrides slope and tracked for up to 240 days. The tracks vividly illustrate
the variable diffusion processes near the shelf break, Currents were 0.1-0
.3 m s(-1) in the slope current (the lower value in the summer), cross slop
e Bow was inhibited and dispersion was anisotropic. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scien
