Abstract
A region of PBS 206 plasmid DNA containing genes for salicylate hydroxylase and catechol-2,3-dioxygenase was cloned. Hybridization analysis showed tha t the cloned region of plasmid pBS106 is homologous to the corresponding re gion of plasmid NAH7. The salicylate hydroxylase gene is expressed under th e control of its own promoter and is linked to the regulatory gene, Activat ion of the salicylate hydroxylase gene in plasmid pBS106 is accompanied by a deletion of approximately a 3-kb DNA region in the original NPL-1 plasmid . A protein with a molecular mass of 45 kDa was shown to be a product of th e salicylate hydroxylase gene in plasmid PBS106.
