Abstract
The cause can almost always be identified. postnasal drip syndrome, asthma,
or gastroesophageal reflux disease account for most cases. The differentia
l diagnosis also includes ACE inhibitor therapy, pertussis, and, in up to 8
0% of patients, multiple causes. Response to treatment may offer diagnostic
confirmation but can be slow in coming.
