Ab. Maity et al., Effects of electric field on the quasi-bound electronic surface states confined to the boundary of periodic superlattice structures, INT J ELECT, 86(1), 1999, pp. 15-22
The effect of an applied electric field on the electronic surface states co
nfined to the boundary of a novel type of quantum well structure composed o
f a semi-infinite, periodic superlattice bounded by a homogeneous barrier h
as been studied. It has been found that the surface states are very much se
nsitive to the applied electric field. Possible applications of such struct
ure as opto-electronic devices are also discussed.
