Abstract
This paper presents a general analysis of the elastostatic problem of a sec torial toroidal shell. The solution to the problem is based on the Mushtari -Vlasov-Donnell shell theory and is developed using the two-dimensional qua drature method. A computer program incorporating the theory is attached, an d an example of its application is given for the case of a fluid loading. N umerical results are determined and these are validated by a comparison wit h results obtained from a finite element solution. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scienc e Ltd. All rights reserved.
