Abstract
The dynamics of relaxation oscillations has been investigated in a free-run ning laser-diode-pumped microchip multimode Nd:YVO4 laser. The locking of r elaxation oscillation frequencies, and quasi-periodic and chaotic oscillati ons have been observed in two-mode regimes. The cross-gain coupling among m odes is proposed to explain the observed instabilities.
