Abstract
The theoretical calculation of the standard deviation in inductively couple d plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was investigated The theoretical depend ence of the standard deviation on instrument parameters and element concent ration was examined. The connection between the standard deviation and the detection limit was demonstrated. The theoretical results were compared wit h experimental data and showed good agreement. The theory proposed may be u sed for the improvement of the detection limit in ICP-MS.
