Abstract
Mechanisms for the switching of the magnetization in small structures are s ummarized. We derive an analytic formula for the switching field in terms o f the system variables and test it against results from Monte Carlo simulat ions. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics. [S0021-8979(99)01403-6].
