La. Metherell et al., PCR-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection and identification of Campylobacter species: Application to isolates and stool samples, J CLIN MICR, 37(2), 1999, pp. 433-435
We report a PCR-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay which identifies Campylob
acter species by capture hybridization of a single-stranded 16S rRnA gene a
mplicon with species-specific probes in a microtiter plate format. Specific
ities were confirmed for both reference and field strains, but the type str
ain of Campylobacter coli was atypical. The assay was rapid, informative, a
nd usable with stool-extracted DNA.
