Abstract
The influence of lithium perchlorate on the photophysical processes followi ng bimolecular electron transfer fluorescence quenching of 9,10-dichloroant hracene (DClA) by aromatic amines in acetone has been investigated using th e nanosecond transient absorption technique. It has been found that the qua ntum yield of radical ion separation increases and that of intersystem cros sing decreases when the concentration of LiClO4 increases. Detailed analysi s of the experimental data indicates that the salt influences all the deact ivation pathways of the charge transfer radical pair produced by quenching of DClA fluorescence by amines.
