Abstract
A semilinear Kirchhoff plate with a nonlinear dissipation acting via moment s only is considered. It is shown that the plate is uniformly stabilizable with uniform energy decay rates with respect to the parameter gamma > 0 rep resenting rotational forces (assumed small). Moreover, it is shown that the solutions of the Kirchhoff plate converge to solutions of the semilinear E uler-Bernoulli plate, when gamma --> 0, which is also uniformly stable in f inite energy norm.
