Ap. Jackson et A. Ivanoff, Reduction of low response rates in interview surveys of poor African-American families, J SOC SERV, 25(1-2), 1999, pp. 41-60
This paper suggests a framework for maximizing response in survey research
with poor African-American families. Highlighting the affinity between rese
arch and direct practice, strategies involving persuasion, credibility, giv
ing, and motivation are discussed. The utility of these ideas for researche
rs concerned with data gathering in minority communities for policy and pra
ctice is addressed.
