We studied the a relaxation in salol by simultaneous measurement of dielect
ric-loss spectroscopy(DLS) and photon-correlation spectroscopy (PCS) at tem
peratures (234.5 K similar to 242.5K) below the crossover temperature T-c.
We identified the alpha-scale universality predicted in the mode-coupling t
heory (MCT). We also found at T < T-c that the alpha-relaxation stretched e
xponent beta(k) decreased as the temperature decreased. Contrary to the MCT
prediction, the non-ergodicity parameter f(c) in PCS was temperature indep
endent.
