Abstract
CaYAlO4:Tb-x(3+) has been synthesized through combustion processes, and the optical properties on the CaYAlO4:Tb-x(3+) have been investigated by catho doluminescence (CL) measurements. The results for the CL spectra show emiss ion color tuning from blue to yellow in heavily Tb3+ doped CaYAlO4 through cross-relaxation processes involving the Tb3+ ions in CaYAlO4. These result s indicate that CaYAlO4 can be used as a stable host material with strong c hemical band strengths.
