The magnetic dichroism in the photoelectron spectrum of polarised oxyg
en atoms O(1s(2)2s(2)2p(4))P-3(2) + hv --> O+(1s(2)2s(2)2p(3))L-2S+1(J
) + e(-) measured. Influences of the target polarisation on the photoe
lectron angular distribution are tested experimentally. In particular,
the magnetic dichroism in the photoelectron angular distribution for
the final ionic states D-2 and P-2 is examined and compared with predi
ctions made from measurements on S-4. For comparison with other techni
ques concerning complete photoionisation experiments the photoelectron
spin polarisation to be expected under a special experimental geometr
y is derived.
