Abstract
A new XD melting cast technique has been applied to fabricate TiB2 particle s reinforced NiAlCo matrix intermetallic matrix composites (IMCs). With app ropriate Co addition, the compressive ductility of the NiAlCo intermetallic compound and NiAlCo matrix composites has been significantly improved. Com pared with the matrix, the yield strength and Vickers hardness of the compo sites have been increased significantly. The microstructure and the relatio nship with properties have also been investigated. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scienc e B.V. All rights reserved.
