Abstract
A new design of the line feed structure for a large spherical radio telesco pe (LSRT) is presented in this paper. Integrated mechanical, electronic, op tic and automatic control technologies are employed to make considerable im provement upon the Arecibo spherical radio telescope in Puerto Rico, U.S.A. Nonlinear dynamic analysis of the suspended cable system was carried out w ith some sensible results that could be useful to the real engineering of L SRT. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
