Abstract
While numerous animal models exist for studying neonatal brain injury after cerebral ischemia-hypoxia, an adequate model for assessing reversible foca l ischemia in the neonatal rat has not been reported. This paper describes in detail a new surgical procedure for creating a non-hemorrhagic, reperfus ed focal ischemic lesion in the neonatal, 7-day-old rat pup.
