J. Arvanitidis et al., The role of the intradimer C-C bridge on the stability of (C59N)(2): A high pressure Raman study, PHYS ST S-B, 211(1), 1999, pp. 435-441
The effect of high pressure (up to 10 GPa) on the phonon modes of azafuller
ene (C59N)(2) has been studied by means of Raman spectroscopy. The dimeric
character of this fullerene derivative is manifested in its Raman spectrum.
The pressure dependence of the omega(3) mode and the H-g(1) squashing mode
frequencies exhibit reversible changes in the pressure region (5.0 +/- 0.5
) GPa. In addition, the A(g)(1) breathing mode shows two clear reversible c
hanges in its pressure coefficient at approximate to 3.0 and approximate to
5.5 GPa. These results are consistent with the structural modifications of
(C59N)(2) due to the existence of the intradimer C-C bridge obtained by ot
her techniques.
