Abstract
The ground-state properties of Hg isotopes are investigated by the deformed skyrme-Hartree-Fock (DSI IF) model with new force parameters SK14 [P. G. R einhard and H. Flocard, Nucl. Phys. A584 467 (1995)]. Calculations show tha t the deformed Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model with the above force parameters pr ovides a good description of the binding energies, radii, and deformation p arameters of Hg isotopes. Six kinds of configurations, which include a sphe rical shape, prolate one, oblate one, and three sets of triaxial shapes, ar e considered in our calculations, and this almost exhausts all possibilitie s of deformations for nuclei.
