The applicability of continuous and discrete simulation modelling technique
s for bulk conveying systems is discussed. Quality of approximation of a th
eoretical conveyor is analysed for parabolic and harmonic feed functions in
terms of relative errors of the feed rate and cumulative conveyed tonnnge,
as well as correlation between the actual and simulated output functions.
The quantization effect for the discrete conveyor model is analysed. Bounda
ries of applicability of discrete and continuous simulation modelling appro
aches for the bulk conveying systems are defined.
