Electrochromic (EC) glazings for architectural window systems must have des
irable solar control properties, be designed for high-volume manufacture, a
nd exhibit outstanding durability. This paper discusses performance and bot
h real time and accelerated testing of prototype monolithic lithium-ion EC
glazings in insulating glass units (IGUs). Outdoor exposure at New Jersey a
nd Arizona (desert) test sites shows good switching performance under the d
ifferent solar irradiance conditions. Accelerated test results include room
temperature and elevated temperature electrochemical cycling, electrochemi
cal cycling in combination with photo/thermal cycling, and temperature/humi
dity testing of IGUs. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
