In the present paper, the lattice constant, magnetism, stability and reduci
ng property of oxygen-deficient ferrite MFe2O4-delta(delta>0, M=Fe, Co, Mn,
Ni) have been studied by XRD and Mossbauer methods. It is found that tho l
attice constant of MFe2O4-delta(delta>0) is larger than that of MFe2O4+delt
a, while its internal magnetic field is smaller than that of MFe2O4+delta.
With increasing the deficiency degree delta, the lattice constant increased
, and the internal magnetic field decreased. MFe2O4-delta is unstable in ai
r at room temperature, but it can exist steadily in inert gas at low temper
ature (<673 K), MFe2O4-delta possesses very strong reducing power and can r
educe CO2 to C at 573 K.
