Abstract
A case of a dermoid cyst in the floor of the mouth in a 17-yr-old merle is described. The diagnosis was made by fine-needle aspiration cytology and su pported bg histologic examination of the subsequently excised tissue. Dermo id cysts are benign lesions that can occur in the floor of the mouth. This case is presented to increase awareness of this entity and its occurrence i n this location, ann to demonstrate the feasibility of diagnosis by fine-ne edle aspiration. The cytologic and histologic features of dermoid cysts are described and discussed. (C) 1999 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
