A. Thaler et al., A sensitive method for the separation and quantitative determination of alkylphosphocholines by high-performance liquid chromatography, DRUGS TODAY, 34, 1998, pp. 153-158
A rapid and sensitive isocratic reversed phase high-performance liquid chro
matographic method has been developed especially for the separation and ana
lysis of extremely long chain alkylphosphocholines. The method is important
for the reproducible identification and quantitative determination of eruc
ylphosphocholine and related compounds containing alkyl residues with more
than 20 carbon atoms. These compounds are new and important antineoplastic
agents with much higher efficacy in rat tumor models than hexadecylphosphoc
holine. Simple refractive index- or UV-detection allows the sensitive and q
uantitative determination of these compounds in the range between 0.2 and 1
00 nmol. (C) 1998 Prous Science. All rights reserved.
