Materials on the gas potential of the Tunguska syneclise traps are systemat
ized. It is shown that the hydrocarbon components of the trap gases and sed
imentary rocks are similar. The high contents of methane homologues and low
ratios of methane to its homologues evidence the petroleum potential of th
e Tunguska Basin sedimentary cover. Data for traps are more convincing, bec
ause all their gas hydrocarbons are allochthonous, migrated mainly from hyd
rocarbon pools.
