A dispersion-flattened dispersion imbalanced nonlinear optical loop mirror
is used to smooth the spectrum and reduce the pedestal of tunable femtoseco
nd solitons generated via pulse compression in a dispersion-flattened dispe
rsion decreasing fiber. Transform-limited pulses with durations less than 2
10 fs and peak-to-pedestal ratios greater than 40 dB are obtained over a wa
velength range of 32 nm at a repetition rate of 10 GHz.
