P. Gautret et al., Molecular typing of Candida parapsilosis isolated from a patient undergoing a fungal pancreatitis, J MYCOL MED, 8(4), 1998, pp. 188-191
Purpose. Fungal pancreatitis due to Candida parapsilosis do not occur frequ
ently and few reports have been published in the literature. In the present
case, a retrospective study of risk factors and a chronological reviews of
microbiological isolates were conducted.
Materials and methods. Molecular typing of yeasts from various biological s
pecimens (a blood sample, a drainage pus sample and a surgical drainage liq
uid sample) patient was performed by Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD
).
Results. The mycological analysis associated to the molecular typing of dif
ferent isolates from the patient lead us to suspect an exogenous contaminat
ion via a central venous catheter and/or a pancreatic drain.
