Abstract
A first-generation regression model is presented, describing a linear relat ionship between dead ectomycorrhizal biomass (mg dg weight) and mycorrhizal area in the xy-plane (mm(2)) (r(2) = 0.996). This model enables reliable e stimates of dead ectomycorrhizal biomass in soils through area measurements of mycorrhizae using computerized image analysis. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scienc e B.V.
