Abstract
In our paper, the results of the study on the influence of convection withi n a melt on the mechanism of eutectic crystallization in hypoeutectic and e utectic Ag-Ge alloys are presented. The limited convection conditions were created by processing samples under mu-gravity conditions. It was found tha t the suppression of convection in both alloys significantly enhances the s tability of a melt below the eutectic temperature. In the case of both samp les, apparent effect of the recalescence on resulting structures was shown. On the base of the distribution of minor component in eutectics of the hyp oeutectic sample, the mechanism of crystallization of anomalous eutectics a t a deep undercooling is suggested.
