Cold treatment, as part of the process, improves explant decontamination

Cold treatment of surface sterilized explant material of hardwood trees at 4 degrees C for two or four days reduced or eradicated internal contaminati on with Bacillus subtilis. This procedure provides a cheap, rapid and non-t oxic technique to introduce material from adult trees, growing out of doors , into culture.
